I just got a new camera today, the Canon HG20. I did a test record and plugged it in and opened FCE. It doesn't have FireWire so I can't capture like I normally do. I did log and transfer and it sees the clip but when I add it to the browser window, I get the spinning beachball of death and FCE unexpectedly quits. Please help me!

Do the following,
Shut off computer
shut off camera
unplug any external devices
turn on camera
plug it in to computer
turn on computer
then boot up FCE.
If that fails, then resetting your preferences should do the trick.

I'll try this very soon and let you know what happens. Thank you very much.

I tried both of these and they both failed to fix it.
