Macbook Pro Applecare fix question

I'm not sure if this is the right section to post, but I'll try.

I have a Macbook Pro a little under a year old. The clicker on my touch pad started to make a weird crunching noise whenever I press it.

Does anyone know if this is cover under mac warranty? I also have the extended applecare plan.

I would certainly think so. Why would it not be?
