Hi, I just joined the mac world a few hours ago by booting up my new macbook.

I just had a question...there is a slight flicker in the screen...basically, the screen gets darker and then lighter very quickly, barely even enough to notice if youre not looking for it.

Is this characteristic of the new Macbooks, or do I need to visit the apple store?

TIA, and I love OSX!

it is probably just the ambient light sensor.

is there any way to disable this from working in certain situations?

it gets pretty annoying when its constantly doing it

I don't know much about the new macbooks yet, but what you are saying sounds like a shoddy backlight on the older macbooks...

taking it down from full brightness seems to have helped...but if I should be able to run it at full brightness without the flicker I would sure like to
