The problem is I don't know the current password, is there somewhere where I can find it? And if I should change it will it make a difference to anything? Thanxs in advance..
Umm, if you have the installation disc you can use it to reset the password for that user, and changing it will mean you will know what to type when it asks for an administrator password (mainly when changing preferences, permissions, or installing some kinds of software)
As flonejek said, you need your install disk.
When you boot your Mac with it, there should be a menu somewhere to change the password without knowing the former one. Sorry for not being more detailed, I never tried it myself...
Changing your password won't change your system's behaviour, except of course that, like flonjek stated, you finally will be able to do those tasks that ask for the admin's password... :headphone
