At a Christmas party tonight, my friend's iPhone got dropped into a drink (yeah I know, HUGE party foul). Anyways, its been pretty much useless since, turning on and off randomly and buttons/speakers not working, etc.

Any suggestions of what to do (other than buying a new iPhone, which is obviously the last resort)?

We were wondering how hard it is to open the iPhone to get the battery out and dry everything out.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

On my old flip phone I poured some bottled alcohol on it (medical grade). It dried all the water right up. It was a free phone so I was just trying it out, it couldn't hurt to try but see about the videos first . Disassembly might be better I get it to dry out
