Hi,

I have just installed the Security Update 2008-008(Intel) onto my iMac 5.1 running Max OS X 10.4.11 and now can't open iTunes 8.0.2 :'( , each time it get a window giving the option to Close Report or Reopen. I have taken all 3 and rebooted a few times but no change. I have tried to re-install but get the same error.

Ant help or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Steve :(

Bit of an update. I have tried opening iTunes with another account and it works OK. The next question is how I now fix the problem accessing it from my usual account?

Might be a permissions issue, try repairing permissions first using Disk Utility (in Utilities) or MainMenu (google it)

if that doesn't do it go to Users > You > Library > Preferences and trash the com.apple.iTunes.plist file

I have tried repairing permissions and trashing the plist file but still get the error.

I have been checking my system and found that I am getting the same problem from a few apps in Utilities, Activity Monitor, Airport Admin Utility, Digital Color Meter, Directory Access and Printer Setup Utility.

If you did the update through Software Update, next thing I'd try would be to grab it directly from Apple and verify the SHA 1 digest to make sure you've got a good download and reapply it.

I have downloaded the security update directly from Apple but I get the same error when I try to run it, not good.

To get round this problem I have created a new preference file by renaming the current one and then rebooting. It was fairly easy to then set everything as it was before.
