Apple just released 10.5.6 update for Leopard. I had issues with the Software Update from OSX only downloading part of the update and it not installing, so I went with the Combo Updater and all is fine on 2 of my Macs with Leopard.

Below is a URL that tells what Apple did in this update.

About the Mac OS X 10.5.6 Update

So far my New Mail sound is playing on all accounts which has been a problem here since 10.5

I tried to download it from Software Update, and it would download all the way, but wouldnt install. It would hang on Configuring Installation, it would sit like that for 20min.

I'll try the Combo Updater.

The Combo will work for you. Had to use it on 2 machines now. I had the exact same issue you did. I did check the folder where it keeps the update and it was way smaller than it should have been.

Is it the Combo update that is like 600mb + ? I'm downloading the 373mb one.

The 600mb+ one would kill me at work!

I got the 373MB one and it worked fine on an Intel and PPC Mac.

Very Nice, the download is almost done, so I'll give it a shot and post back.

Thanks for the Info!

Works fine combo updater. Just be patient after install, takes 1 min 40 secs for second chime, 1 min 20 secs for gear wheel, 50 secs to blue screen and 20 secs to desktop total of 4 min 10 secs so be patient.

You do updates with a stop watch at hand? :D

Mine went fine, and you're right - it does take some time in between reboots.

Regards.

There was a bit of a pause on my iMac G5 iSight and a double reboot, but the 2.1Ghz C2D Mini was so fast I did not even notice the pause at all. Trying it on my 1.8Ghz G4 and will see how that goes.

How important is thsi??

I am having no problems with my current system & after reading all the problems with the 10.5.6 update I am bit scared about screwing up my system.
Is it really important that I do the update?
What if I dont? Will there be problems with future updates if i dont do this one?

Always update with stop watch in hand. That many folk get impatient waiting for restart they turn the machine off and reboot and then wonder why they have problems. The timing thing is an indicator to attempt to curb that impatience lol!
