Hi

A friend has frozen her old Mac and needs to reinstall the operating system. The laptop was given to her. She does not have the original disc to install. What can she do? Any ideas??

You will need to buy retails copies of Tiger (they are black disks with a grey X on them). Do not buy grey restore disks since they only work on specific macs they shipped with.

Some people on ebay are asking silly money for Tiger disks but with patience you can pick up retail copies of tiger at a reasonable cost

As for OS9, its not really needed for an install anymore.

But fist try booting up in safe mode (press S on start-up) to see if you can get it up and running
