Hard drive case help old PPC

My friend has a frozen old Mac and wants to salvage the info on the hard drive.

What kind of external usb hard drive case does this need? an IDE? 2 1/2 inch? any additional advice greatly appreciated. I am a Linux person and know nothing of Macs.

What kind of "old Mac" is it? Need to know model. However, you can buy a universal adapter which will accept SATA, IDE, PATA, and so forth, to USB 1.1 or 2.0. It's $27.95 and can be purchased from here.
