Help!! Cant download in my MacBook

I'M having trouble trying to download from internet,when my files go to my downloads doesnt let me to open,when i click on to open the icon says that theres no default specified application to open the file,then when i choose application doesnt let me open with speed download,i would like to know whats wrong and why im not able to open any file,any help please
