• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Looking for some software that enables inserting video into an existing video.
I don't mean simply a box in the screen. I'm interested in superimposing a cropped moving image onto a video clip. Say, a different head on a body.

I've seen this done but don't know how it was accomplished.

I think this is what people use After Effects for. Maybe Motion and Shake too. This isn't a low end effect but with a lot of work, it might be doable in Final Cut.

Thanks for the replies. I have an older copy of AfterEffects I've never used - so I'll try that and also
look into the others.

They allow you to overlap video, but it would be difficult to create the transparency needed for the head shot, excepting a green screen type effect.
