is my mbp led or lcd?

They are both LCDs
LED refers to the back light used older MBP used florescent back lights
If you go to the apple icon on the left corner and click about my mac and then click on the system profiler it should list the model of your mac usually something like 1,3 or something like that. You can then use that to figure out what revision yours is.
