zoom out desktop images

I'm running 10.5.5 on a 22" iMac

Something screwed up (well I did of course) and now the desktop display is HUGELY enlarged!

I checked Universal Access and Zoom is Off

I've zapped the Pram - nada

I've tried /shift/ option/8

I've restarted and restarted.

How to I restore back to normal?

Never mind - my monitor settings were set to (stretched)

sigh

but happy all is back to normal
