Surely you can't install 10.4 from a 10.5 disk??

I was just exploring my 10.5 Leopard DVD, and noticed a "Universal Installer" for 10.4.

Since I *need* 10.4 on a G4 tower (for program compatibility), I've been trying to find someone who has a copy of 10.4 since my Tiger disk is damaged.

What is this "universal installer" 10.4 package on the 10.5 disk? and I also noticed there was one for 10.3.

Does this mean that if you have Leopard, you can downgrade by using your Leopard disk, or are these packages something else?

Don't know for sure, my guess would be that these are the installers it uses if you do an archive and install of 10.5 as an upgrade from either 10.4 or 10.3.

If you have the Tiger discs contact Apple for replacements. There is a charge, from memory, which is fading fast, around the $30-40 mark.
