Can someone help me out? I want to rip my DVD collection to my Portable hard drive, so I need an application for decoding and then one for ripping. So what is out there so that I can do that? Thanks.

Ripping a commercial DVD is against forum rules to discuss as breaking the encryption is illegal. However, if you were using non-commercial DVDs, then I would suggest using Handbrake, it'll rip and convert the DVD to a variety of formats. If Handbrake doesn't rip the disc, then use a program called MactheRipper to rip the DVD to a VIDEO_TS folder and then use Handbrake on that folder.
