Hi,

I've tried everything short of re-installing the OS and before I do that I'd want to ask the experts here if there is some way to fix the issue. I have a PowerBook G4 1.5GHz with 1GB of SDRAM running OS 10.4.11 and all the various software updates are installed. All the software was running fine up until a few days ago so it's not an overall issue of the computer not being able to run the applications.

It started with InDesign and Illustrator quitting upon launch. It would give the "unexpected quit" error. Photoshop and Flash would run fine. Then Photoshop started giving an "application error". With various updates my itunes now doesn't launch. I've repaired the permissions as well as the disk with the original software disk but nothing has fixed the problem.

Please, if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

It's time to make a good backup of your data - preferably to an external hard drive. If you've run repair from your Tiger install disk and problems are still cropping up, your hard drive may be getting ready to fail. That's why I suggest making a backup as soon as you can.

Regards.

May I second chsaq's advice to get all your stuff to another hard drive - el pronto!

In addition to that, and in fact before that, but not long before, you may care to check the state of the RAM that's installed. Failure to run software can sometimes be attributed to bad RAM (stick, or sticks).

Thanks guys. Luckily I haver everything backed up on external drives. I had this thing go through Apple Depot about a month ago to replace the logics board (during which time they said they'd replace the hard drive if there were issues) and it was only after that the problems started happening even though my entire harddrive was wiped clean.

I'll try to re-install the OS and see if that fixes the problem before I start making calls.
