Your Mac's Specs
1.2gHz g4, 12 inch, 60 gig, 768RAM, bluetooth, ATI radeon 9200, macally bluetooth mouse, JBL speaker
so after a long time of dealing with the HP laptop, i finally got rid of it and bought a 12 inch ibook g4. very nice i might add. its the latest verion out with the 1.2ghz g4 and built in airport. i got it with a 60 gig HD and bluetooth as well. i hesitated on the RAM becasue i wasnt sure how it affects the battery life, and because if i need to, i can get 512 for around 100 bucks online instead of 256 for 90 bucks from apple. will a total of 764 or even 512 reduce the battery life? should i just stick with the 256 onboard? thanks a bunch. i look foreward to being a mac user. haha. peace.

Nice purchase, i got the same one. The advantages of having more ram FAR outweigh any negative effects that the RAM will cause. I think if it does cause more battery usage, it is negligible. In theory, the ram will only make you use more battery because you are more likely to leave a lot of programs open at the same time.

You also have to realize that having less ram means more hard drive spinning which means more battery consumption.
