Hi I was wondering if hooking up a 26 inch monitor to my macbook will make the cpu work harder and increase the temp? or will it be the same as it powering the regular screen? please give some advice.

As long as the graphics in your MacBook can render the 26" LCD at its native resolution, you should have no problem using it. As far as heat and making the CPU work harder - no.

Regards.
