Sharing Ringtones

I have some ringtones that my friend, who also has an iphone, would like to have. I made them in garageband, so I wouldn't think they would be protected at all. When I emailed them to him he couldn't open them up. Came up as a text file. But there was still the musical note on it....

Any ideas as to how to share a ringtone? Or email it?
