This kind of thing has happened to me (not with porn, mind you) but with some files in general. I fixed it my right clicking on the file and opening with, then select the correct app, like Quicktime. Usually when you force it to open with the proper app, it will work. To do a long term fix, which usually works, is to get info on a file, then where it says open with and there is a drop down menu, choose Quicktime for vids, the click the change all button which applies it to all current files and usually ones that download subsequently. Also, make sure it has the proper extension on the file. If not, assign it the correct extension.

By proper extension, I mean that the mac will display files and not show the extension, so you can't really tell visually by the name what the file is. So, if you know that safari shows the link as an mpg file, then add .mpg at the end of the downloaded file. It should then switch the icon to a Quicktime icon. This works for anything. For instance, if you download a jpeg, you can change the extension on it to say .txt and it will probably ask u if u really want to do that, which you say yes, then you will see that the icon will switch to a text edit doc. It will then try to open that file in Text Edit, but of course it is not a text file, so it will fail. So, with that said, the reverse should be true!

And the Vintage Vinyl is a ram document which is a link to a streaming file, so if you do not have Real Player (http://www.realplayer.com/), it will for sure open in Text Edit. If you have real player, drag that .ram file over the Real Player application and let go. It should then translate the file as a Real Player document and start streaming.

Thanks guys! It was as simple and all I had to do is download Real Player and it plays all my videos. Funny how applecare and the barista couldnt tell me something as simple as that.

I've got them to open in real player but now I'm getting Quick Time error 2048 every time I try to play a video.
