terminal issue

hello all,
running OSX2.6 and since i made the upgrade i havent needed to get into terminal... however i was trying to access an FTP and no commands were recognized... i tried other commands, top, time, sudo etc and i found that no commands will be recognized... has anyone had this problem? or do you know what i need to do to fix this??

yikes.. no idea.. I use my terminal all the time!
