Hi
First post .......

Just bought a Macbook (13.3) and am wondering about using Office or Open Office. I have looked at the Open Office web site but not to sure about what to install, dont want to break the new toy.
Any advise re the above would be most gratefull.

Thanks

Use OpenOffice version 3.0 for Intel Mac. It works great. Here's the download page:

download: OpenOffice.org Download

Go down to where it says English on the left side and go across till you get to the Mac OS X Intel column and click Download. Don't take the 2.4.1 version - that requires X11 and it's not as good as the 3.0 version.

You could also check out NeoOffice. It's essentially a pretty face over OpenOffice.

And although NeoOffice is based on OpenOffice, 2.2 in Jan 09 it will be switched to be based on OO 3.0.

NeoOffice is not just another pretty face, they (two developers) do a very good job of providing Mac-like interface.
