Hey Guys,

I'm trying to instal OS X 10.4.1 on my iMac G4. A While ago I reformated my HD back to factory settings, so I'm using OS X 10.1.4 currently. When I insert the 10.4.1 disc and restart, upon the Grey Screen with white apple I receive a kernal panic warning. I restarted holding down the mouse button in order to eject the disc.

The computer starts back up in 10.1.4.

I found a 10.1.5 upgrade and installed that.

Memory: 256 MB
Processor: PowerPC G4

The error says Unable to find driver for this platform "PowerMac 4, 2"

Any Help?

It will not install period. You need a black OS X.4 Tiger full install disc, with a DVD/Combo drive as CD versions are like hens teeth ~ scarce!

Also boost the memory up to 1GB for Tiger and do an erase and install as you could well strike problems jumping X.2 and X.3.

Agreed with Harry. Also that DVD that came with your Intel Mac is for X86 Intel Macs and will not work on a Power PC Mac.
