I currently have a GeForce 8600M GT 128mb in my MacBook Pro and am looking to upgrade it to something a little more powerful, so I can get the best graphics with my games. Are there any suggestions out there for a high tier card and also how hard are they to install will I need to send them to a shop to do so?

As far as I know they are soldered to the board and are not replaceable at all. Unless you were to replace the entire board, which wouldn't be cheap anyway.

lifeafter2AM is correct. The graphics card in your MBP is not replaceable. Even though it is discreet with its own memory, it's integrated within the main board which is multi-layered. If you need a more powerful graphics chip, you'll need to upgrade the entire machine.

Regards.
