• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Well our TV broke down at the weekend and so I decided for the first time to make use of the TV and Movies features of the iTunes store. I bought a few TV episodes and they play back fine, I downloaded some free stuff and that played back fine. I rented 3 movies and whenever I play them all I get is a grey screen and no audio.

Searching the web shows loads of people with the same problem and no solution! Apple have one page that basically says upgrade QuickTime and iTunes to the latest versions, I have the latest versions and have re-installed them both anyway and to try deleting the sc info folder which I believe is where you authorization info is stored. Tried all of that and still I get nothin but a grey screen.

Has anyone been able to fix this?
