Is it meant to be funny?

I think it is a little dark, but a powerful image at the same time.

I never meant it to be. It's a bon fire, not a house fire. There's people that lose their homes, posessions and lives in fire related incidents all the time. In fact, I used to hang out with a girl in high school who's family lost their house in a fire. I'm not making fun of these people.

The only thing that those two events have in common are fire.

I'll pass on the humor view, and just comment on the photo, its a pretty sweet photo.

the image does not match the statement. i was expecting to see some destruction. all i see is some kids around a fire. as for the picture, very nice. you captured the flames very well, and the silohettes against the fire look add a level of interest.

I like this photo a lot.

Thanks all. This was actually taken the weekend before October 31 and was sitting on my computer. I was going through my folders as I was transferring them to my server and found it. I like doing that.

But it's an idea, like The Pledge of Allegiance. It's not something tangible, but it evokes a sense of patriotism and symbolizes America and is, more often than not, recited when in the presence of a flag.
