My latest acquisition, a G3 iMac, has a flat battery. Replacing the battery is a right stink of a job.
My G3 b/w tower has an almost-new battery. This computer will not be used for some weeks, so its battery isn't needed much, and it's very easy to get at. I intend taking the battery out and putting it in the iMac.
Question: when leaving a battery out of a computer like the G3 b/w for weeks, possibly months, what is the effect of putting a new battery in after that length of time? Does the PMU need to be reset, is there risk to the PMU chip?
