How hot can you let the new MBP's get for periods of time without damaging them. When playing some of my games I get around 90 celsius

keep a eye on it, depending on what model of macbook it may be covered by apple extension warranty due GPU failures in a few of theirs MBPs.

I tried Age of Empires 3 for a bit and my unibody MBP gets around 85C. Should be fine.

Make sure you folks are not using your MB's and MBP's with it sitting in your lap, on a bed, etc., blocking (even partially) the vent that runs across the length of the hinge area.

I used to play WoW and my laptop would sometimes exceed 90º Celsius. While heat is never a good thing for a computer it is not necessarily terrible. Most laptops these days (including the MacBook and MBP) have emergency shutoffs if they get too hot, the laptop will turn off when it gets too hot to prevent damage.

Always keep your vent clear and make sure your fans are running full speed when your computer gets that hot, they should automatically turn up with temps that high but if you want to check or turn them up yourself download smcFanControl

Though that is warm, I think that it is a fine temp just as long as you give it proper ventilation and not keep it on a pillow or your lap...
