Hey Everyone

Has anybody else had this problem with there ibook G4 12"

The screen on mine has started to come away from the casing where the 'ibook G4' lettering is.
It is a bit bent to the side as it doesn't close that well.

yes, mine has also done this - after about 4 weeks

i just opened it and bent it back over my knee

it keeps slowly bending back, but a little twist every so often keeps it straight...

The screen hasn't lifted like yours though, just the top half no longer being straight.

Mine's like that too. I just noticed it too when I closed my 14' Ibook G4 one side stuck up more then the other exactly like your picture.

Im going to call Apple tomorrow see what they have to say about this.

it'll be good to see what they have to say about it if it is a common fault...

HMMM, guys mine is like that as well. but instead of being on the bottom its on the side.

my other friend who bought it has the same deal as the pic above and he didn't do anything about it and nothing has gone wrong since.

went to the Apple Store and the display model has the EXACT issue so...

looks like this is common. what can we do? can we exchange them? mine is only 3 months old too...

Mine has a slight case of the problem in the pic. The bottoms plastic is slightly coming away from the screen. Hope it don't get any worse :(

so this is a widespread issue. what happened!?!?!?!???? i mean even the display models (both 12 and 14) at the store at BOTH Apple and CompUSA have this problem. Warped screen, uneven closing... Powerbooks don't have this problem.

I called Apple and they said I have to take to a Authorized Apple Specialist. Luckily they told me about one 45 minutes away from here. I asked what would have happened if I didnt have one that close and I asked if I could mail it. They said no since they dont do that for Canadians.

So all of you who are having the problem call and see what they say to you.

Geeze, I hope this isn't a super horrible widespread problem. :( Everytime I decide on the one I want, something else makes me go, 'Hmm..'

i got this one of ebay uk last week.

When it arrived it was like this but there was nothing in the discription about it. I asked the guy who sold me it and he says it wasn't like that. I got a copy of the receipt of him and took it to the company (John Lewis in Sheffield). Its still under warranty so its being repaired now. I will post some more pictures when they fix it to show you what they did after the repair.

Geeze, that sucks! For those of you having it repaired, any explanation about why it happened?

Thanks

I just looked at mine and it's very very minor to the point that I wouldnt even do anything about it unless it worsens. I think i know why it's doing that though. When you push the release button on the front to open the screen, how stiff is the lid while you are opening it? Mines pretty stiff and i can see that area flex a little as i'm opening because of the hinge design that they used. I wouldnt be suprised if every single iBook has some degree of seperation in that area eventually.

argh!! I've just opened it and looked, and it's like a giant gaping mouth!!

Then it lays almost flat again...

Sorry, i generally love apple design, but that is a serious flaw! There's no way of opening it without this happening.... :(
