synching ical and mail to ipod touch

Hi is there a way to synch up ical from the mac to the ipod touch and to set the same mail I'm using on the mac without buying mobile me?

Yes, with the iPod hooked up to the mac and iTunes running make sure the iPod is selected on the left side. Then go to the Info tab and select the cal to sync. Mail accounts should be right under that. I have iPhone but I think it should be the same. You could always add the email account manually by going to the settings on the iPod, then mail settings, then add account.
