Trashing locked recovery files (indesign)

hey there,

my indesign cs3 keeps crashing because its trying to open a damaged recovery file (.idlk). i dont need these to open and i want to trash them but everytime i try, they say that "they are in use". cant even trash them when indesign isnt running. anyway to override this and trash them? im on deadline and this is getting very frustrating. thanks.

p.s. also, one of my library files is corrupt and i get the same message when i try to delete it. i cant close the library pallette because every time i click on it to close it, indesign crashes

Try this:

Open the Terminal Application (in Utilities folder) and type:

cd ~/.Trash
<hit return>

sudo rm -rf

put a space after the f and drag the item you want deleted to the terminal so that its path is automatically entered, then press return

give it your admin password and hit return

it worked for one of the .idlk files, but when i drag the others to terminal it says "directory not empty" and it doesnt do anything. any other ideas?

What do you mean when you drag the others to terminal?

got it, FORCE EMPTY TRASH script worked great.
