I read this yesterday and it seems pretty valid. Because of Apple's strict deadlines for certain fuctions that must go in Snow Leopard they have been able to let Snow Leopard be released sooner than we thought. Previously most people assumed that SL would be released at WWDC 09' but not it will be even sooner.

Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) Due in 1st Quarter of 2009? - Mac Rumors

It will be available from September 2009. Oh, and if you already have Leopard, you pay only 29$ to upgrade to Snow Leopard on 1 computer. $49 to upgrade on multiple computers.

As a point of referrence, long time Windows user, (use to write programs from back in the days of card readers and Hollerith cards)... Microsoft used to compete to put out innovative programs and OS's. But what they have generated this past decade has been strictly about packaging for businesses. More marketing than anything else. Mac OS is not, by any means, a fool proof piece of software. But what Windows has generated lately is truly shameful.
