wireless at hotel, any precautions?

Hey guys,
I'll be on NY on business next week, and will be using the hotel/convention center wireless - are there any precautions I should be aware of? I have a fairly new macbook.

Just keep in mind that public convenience wireless systems offer no encryption. Everything you receive or transmit on their wireless system will be in the clear. Make sure your firewall is up and avoid any kind of sensitive transactions that would involve using your credit card, bank account, etc.

If you have any shares set up on your laptop, turn them off or password them whilst on a public access point.
