Need help with Audacity or similar ap

I'm trying to digitize some vinyl & tapes. Audacity has been a struggle because its complete manual cannot be downloaded or accessed and tutorials are only about transferring its digital files to CDs & DVDs. - I need the basics of recording with it! I tried Final Vinyl - worthless. I also have Garage Band and an old version of Peak; perhaps I should be using one of those instead? I'm using iMic with my iBook G3.

I admit to being surprised by your comment about Final Vinyl, as it's worked just fine for others who are doing just what you're trying to do.
