Hello,

Just a quick question.

When it says that the iBook G4 can have up to 1.25GB of RAM, is this in just one card or can you add more cards of memory to the iBook?

Heres my situation,

I currently own a 12" iBook G4 with 512MB RAM, I do alot of audio and video editing on it (more audio than video) and wouldnt mind adding another 512MB stick to boost the power in my machine. Just wondering if i would have to scrap my current 512MB stick and get a 1GB stick or weather i can just buy another 512MB stick and add it to it?

Regards,

Chris, ;)

You have 256MB RAM is built-in and 256MB RAM on your extension memory slot. Therefore, you can get 512MB RAM, totaling 768MB or go with 1GB, totaling 1.256GB.

I think you will need to from the 256mb chip and replace it with 1gb chip to get to 1.25gb of ram. At least that is my understanding. Someone else may come along and clarify this.

Chris.

no you have one slot for memory. period. The other 256 is soldered in the motherboard. If you open it up to replace your memory you will see you have a 256 in your slot, replacement options are a 512 or a 1gig, so you will have 877 or 1256 total memory respectably.

dude~ I think when you add 256 and 512, total comes out to 768 not 877.
