When I insert a CD or blank CD, no icon appears on the desktop, doesn't appear in iTunes OR Finder. I do have the box selected to show CDs DVDs and iPods.

I really need help. This is exactly what what my Toshiba Satellite did.

I have a 2.1 GHz MacBook. Intel Core 2 Duo, 1GB RAM.

Thank you for your help.

mine did something similar - would not detect any cds. dvds worked fine. ended up to be a bad superdrive. apple replaced it for free under warranty (it was about 10 months old at the time).

I'll check DVDs. This has happened to me earlier before, but I just ejected it and slid it back in and worked fine.

**UPDATE**

I just popped in my Who Made Who CD and it appeared on my desktop as well as iTunes. I will not be consulting Apple yet. I will when it really breaks. I got my Macbook in July, so I'm definitely still under warranty.

Thanks eric for the info. :)
