New 320GB HD only has 283GB left left after Leopard install?

yeah that does sound about right a hard drive marketed as 320 gb will only have about 300 gb of total space.

Yeppers, thats about right. Usually those drives hover around actually being 298GB, so yeah, you are safe.

Ok. What about transferring over huge amounts of data? Last night I attempted to copy over some 200GB of music to this new drive. When I awoke about 180GB had transferred over, but the process was stopped when it locked up and asked for my login password. Why is this?
