iPod > Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

Your Mac's Specs
13" MBP - 2.7 Ghz, Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM.
I'm trying to use my iPod as an external hard drive, as explained by these directions. However, when I set it to Mac OS Extended (Journaled), my iPod refused to boot. So, what am I supposed to do?

In other words, how am I supposed to load Leopard from the iPod if my Macbook doesn't detect it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)?
