Can a 2006 MB 1.83Ghz burn onto dual layer (8.5 GB) DVDs? I need to know before I go out and buy them. Thank you.

If I'm not mistaken, I don't believe the early MacBooks or MacBook Pros had dual-layer superdrives.

If it's anything like my old 2006 1.83 Ghz Macbook it can't burn any DVDs... the base model came with a combo drive = DVD playback, CD writer.

I always used an external LaCie dual layer DVD burner.

Go to About this Mac>More Info>Disc Burning and see what is listed there. If your machine has burn facilities it will state CD Write and maybe DVD Write and for Dual Layer burning look for R-DL and R+DL.
