i just updated my system to 10.4.11 and now when i boot it gets to the apple logo and the spinning doohickey and it won't load. i booted and held command-v and it freezes at "configuring kernel extensions".
i got my computer on ebay, it worked before the update, but i didn't get the install dvd with it so i cant do a reinstall of it. is there any way i can get my ibook to boot without having to buy a new dvd?

Not much you can do without the original install media. You can't even run first aid without it since your system is currently not booting. Try these hints from Apple first before having to purchase a new DVD set:

Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM

I know it's too late, but never purchase computer ware from eBay or Craig's list unless you're guaranteed to receive everything that is supposed to come with the machine.

You may be able to find a generic Tiger install set for less than what it would cost from Apple. Actually if I were you, instead of purchasing Tiger I would go for Leopard. Check out NewEgg or Amazon for prices.

Regards.
