Just got my new macbook (late 08 aluminium)

Why is the @ key on the number 2, instead of the normal place?
It's a UK model.

Did you buy it from the Apple Site and did you use the UK store?

it's the same on mine. l also got the the apple keyboard for my desktop, and the @ symbol is also in the place of number 2. I tried plugging it into a windows computer though and windows maps it back to the normal place.

Sorry, folks, that's where the @ key always is on Apple keyboards - UK or US, iBook or iMac, etc.

Now then, for your next test, find the " key :D

Cheers:)

Traditionally the US layout of the keyboard has the @ symbol above the two. I asked as I have ordered a macbook and wondered if mine would be the same.

Judging from the comment above i think it is safe to say Apple adopts the US keyboard layout as standard/generic.

Well Apple is a US company even if the units are manufactured in China!

Here down under, where keyboards have come from Malaysia, Singapore and China over the years, always above the 2.
