I'm looking to upgrade my 13" MacBook's hard drive for the first time to at least 250GB. I'm wondering, though, what size/kind should I be looking for? I will most likely be shopping from NewEgg.com.

Select your model here and have a look. The 7200's are faster than the 5400's. I'll leave the rest to others with their experiences with different HDD's.

It should work as long as it's an SATA HDD. I would get a 7200 RPM HDD though. Like one of these two, from newegg.

Quite a good deal on them, considering they both use to be in the 160 dollar range, and then dropped to 109 in like a few months. Now they are both under 100 bucks with free shipping no less. >_>"

Thanks for the link. I found this one on NewEgg, though. I couldn't find it at OWC so can anyone here confirm it'll work for my 1.83 Ghz Single Core?

That should work as it's a Notebook drive 2.5" SATA. Any 2.5" Notebook drive with a SATA interface should work. I agree with CR that a 7200 RPM would be the way to go for maximum performance if you can pay the price.

CR, great drives. I am happy to see the price that low on large 7200 RPM Laptop drives. It's sure come down a lot in recent times! :D

How can I find out if a drive I already own is 5400 or 7200 RPM?
