installing osx on a new hard drive for my macbook, help plz!!!

i bought a new 320 gig western digital hard drive off ebay. the seller is trustworthy, no negative comments or feedback, and he's a powerseller. the drive seems fine and the macbook says theres nothing wrong with it. only problem is the installation keeps failing! i formatted it correctly and partitioned it, i just cant seem to figure out why it keeps failing 45 mins to an hour into the installation. does anyone have any ideas of what may be wrong?

Did you run Disk Utility on it? How about transferring large amounts of data at once. Maybe there's a loose connection somewhere and the drive goes offline for a few seconds which is why it's failing.
