Duplicate files in iTunes folder...not an easy fix.

Hey guys,

I have about 5gb of duplicate songs as seen here:



I have tried using "duplicate finding" software, but there is no way for it to know which file is actually paired to the iTunes entry.

I'm truly stumped here. Any ideas?

I believe iTunes files are mP4... hmmm.

Led Zeppelin fans unite!

In iTunes go to the menu bar/view/show duplicates. You can sort them out there.

Well iTunes music files are AAC, but regardless I resent your insinuation. Those are my tracks from my albums, imported before Led Zeppelin was on iTunes. No hard feelings though.

Thats the problem, they are not in iTunes, they are just sitting in the folders as duplicates. Only one file is linked to an iTunes entry.

You can use consolidate library or import from the menu bar. Add all your music to iTunes, then sort them out. It should work.

I had a similar problem. I used a program to Itunes find duplicates which is called Clone Remover. And I decided my problem. It works not only with itunes. What do you think about it?
