New to VLC...what's with the lag?

I'm new to VLC 0.9.2 and what's with the lag? Be it the lag between pausing or simply skipping ahead, it's kind of annoying. Is there a fix or better version out there?

I use that version of VLC all the time and have never ran into any lag or pausing/skipping.

How much ram do you have on your mac?

Hmm...just to reiterate: I hit pause and the audio stops but the video will continue for at least 3 more seconds until it decides to pause.

I have 2GB of ram.
