Hello all,

I was looking for some advice from everyone.

I am about to purchase my first MAC and was considering getting one of the previous generation machines as I was hoping they would be a lot less. They are less but only by about $400.00. So getting a new one would probably be more cost effective.

However.... (here comes the rub). A friend of a friend of a friend is selling there 15" G4 powerbook for $450.00 - tell me what you think (good deal or not).

Here are the specs:
Leopard 10.5 (i believe)
1.67Ghz
1 gig memory
hard drive 80 gig

I am a designer/developer and I have researched that Adobe CS3 does infact run on G4 (maybe not as well as G5) but I do want to take some time to learn the MAC platform as well.

Thanks everyone.

You're better off finding a good MacBook on eBay. I just picked up an 8 month old MacBook on eBay for $530, well worth the extra $80. They're significantly faster and you will be much happier with one.

Hello! Welcome!

I would do what xj6jaguar1985 said- you'd be better off. Are you looking for a laptop in specific? If not, just get a nice Mac Mini (and display of course)... they are nice and cheap, and, from what I have heard, pretty good. Good luck with finding your Mac! :)

I appreciate you two taking the time.

Thanks again
