Apple Macbook power socket issue

When i was cleaning my Macbook i accidentally rubbed away the plastic layer on the Macbook portion of the power socket. Now it's essentially a metal to metal contact with the MagSafe adapter.

I was wondering if it's safe to use? I don't see how it could be unsafe but some additional confirmation would be nice.

I really really wouldn't trust it. It's like playing with fire in my opinion. Do you still have applecare?

How did you manage to scrape the plastic out from inside the socket?
