I've had my macbook for two years. I haven't had any MAJOR problems with it. I've had battery issues and I'm planning on getting a new battery next year. I've had some problems lately with my burner, but I've just been burning at half speed and it works fine (haven't tried to burn DVDs in a while, I'm not sure if that would work or not).
Also- part of the edge of the computer, like the plastic near the trackpad, is slowly starting to come off. Just the edge though. A few inches of it has come off on the bottom right corner.
So anyway, next year I was planning on buying a new battery, the new version of iLife, and the new operating system.
Today I was reading more about the new macbooks, and was tempted to just buy a new one.
Do you think that would be dumb? There not as expensive as I thought they'd be.
The only reason I'm tempted to buy a new one is because I've already had my laptop for two years. How much longer do you think it should last me? I mean I use it A LOT, so I don't think it's gonna last me as long as it'll last people who just use it a couple hours a day.
I currently do my school online, so I'm basically always on my computer doing something.
I just can't decide if I should put a buncha money in it (for a new battery, the new operation system that's coming out next year, the new iLife, and maybe eventually a new cd burner) since I'm not sure how much longer it's gonna last me.
The only thing is- my warranty goes another year. I could probably get them to replace the burner if it totally craps out on me. I just get extremely annoyed waiting on the phone for 45 min. to talk to someone.
And also- should my warranty cover the plastic coming off my computer? And if so, could I just take it to the apple store to get fixed? And how long would I be without my computer?
Based on your experience, how long do macbooks last if they're used A LOT?
