FireWire 800?

Why did Apple switch to the FireWire 800 in their new MacBooks? Does it serve any purpose other than to make everyone switch cords and stuff? It's so annoying.

I don't know. You can just get an adapter for $5 with FW400 female and FW800 male. As simple as that! FW800 increases the speed by double, so I'd assume they did this just to make the computers go even faster than they did before. I think that it's dumb though that they removed FireWire on the MacBooks and didn't even add an expansion slot to add a FW card or anything.

yeah, it's just the speed they changed...Why they put no firewire of any sort on the reg. macbook is completely beyond me and dumb...
