Forgive me if there is already a thread about this - I couldn't find it if there was.
I just got a 2.28 GHz Quad-core Intel Xeon Mac Pro (OS 10.5.4) and everything seems to be working great - EXCEPT I've got this horrible whining / chirping noise that comes through my external speakers via the built in audio OR a firewire audio interface (PreSonus Firebox) - it's driving me nuts.
I've read some stuff about using CHUD and unchecking "allow nap" in the processor prefs - which seemed to work for a much older G5 I used to have- but I cannot get CHUD to install on this machine.
Has anyone had experience with this problem on a similar machine? This is totally unacceptable if Apple is trying to foist these machines as "pro audio." And they aren't cheap either.
Could this be a ground loop thing? Defective power supply?
Any advice / help would be great. Thanks in advance.... d
